Its been worth the wait. The motherload of pics just arrived yesterday and they are fantastic. Although I cannot fit them all on the website, I believe I have chosen the cream of the crop. Most are still in the Dropbox but I will be migrating them in the Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana folders. Please enjoy! There will still be Idado, Washington, and Oregon pictures to come.
Hats off to Dave, Nick, and Sam for making it over the Rockies! They are now coasting into Portland for the trip finale! B4B will reach the shore on Sunday evening to conclude this trek! Take a minute to congratulate them on this awesome accomplishment.
Congratulations guys!

So after a quiet week from B4B, I received a voicemail from DD. He just received my text from three days ago! Cell phone service in Wyoming is spotty at most! He assured me that all is well but that for the time being we should not expect to hear too much or receive many new pics because of poor cell phone service. Stay tuned...

B4B is on the road in Colorado joined by three more bikers, Laura Callens and Maria Knab from the Baltimore area, and Sam Fischer. I have received more pics from Dave via disc by snail mail. I have uploaded them to the albums. Thank you to everybody for your continued support!

Hello all! Since I last wrote Dave and Nick have made steady progress through Tennessee, Kentucky, Illinois, and Missouri. They also made the trip to Chicago for Nick's presentation before resuming the trip from St. Louis. They now make their way through the midwest plains of Kansas toward Colorado.
If you look at
the route page, I have updated the map with the actual route (burgundy line) traveled so far. You will notice that the team has altered course to hit Kansas City but has generally followed the original route so far.
Also, I just received from Dave a disc full of more pics taken with the digital camera. I have filed them into their respective state albums. Please peruse through the albums listed in the upper left sidebar to see them!
Lastly, trail mix poll results....M&M's proved to be the most popular ingredient by far receiving 16 votes. Granola, raisins, and almonds were also popular picks! Chocolate morsels received the least votes.

Bright and early tomorrow, the team will reach 1,000 miles! Reports from the road consistently speak of hospitality, good humor, and high spirits. Every day brings a new experience for Dave and Nick. The team will reach Nashville, TN by this weekend. They will turn west and hustle to St. Louis, MO so that Nick can make a conference in Chicago, IL from June 22-24 where he will present research. Theyll be taking a break from biking, rent a car in St. Louis, and make the trip to Chicago.
Results of the "When does Dave shave?" poll are in. Dave is breathing a sigh of relief as the most popular option turned out to be "State to state", barely beating out "Never!". Thanks to everyone for your participation!
Food is no longer a casual indulgence for these guys, it is the fuel that keeps them running mile after mile. Please cast a vote in the new
Trail mix poll when you get a chance. Let us know your favorite fuel(s)!! You may vote for multiple items.

Its GO TIME!!! Today Dave, Steve, and Val flew into Jacksonville, FL to meet the rest of the group and prepare for departure. A big thanks to Amanda and Ryan Lamar who drove from their home in Gainesville, FL to JAX airport to pick everyone up. We then took the 45 minute trip to St. Augustine to meet Nick and his parents. Due to a few delays, it was decided that the start of the trip would be bumped to Monday morning so that we could all relax and enjoy a nice evening in St. Augustine. In the evening, we all walked down to the beach and took photos of Dave and Nick touching their tires in the surf. We finished the evening at the "The Conch House" restaurant where we enjoyed a great dinner, shared some laughs, and discussed the trip. After dinner, we all traded goodbyes and well wishes. Amanda, Ryan, Steve, and Val returned to Gainesville for the evening. Dave, Nick, and Nick's parents retired to the Best Western in St. Augustine with departure planned for first thing in the AM. Check out the photo albums!

Nick and his parents, Diane and Steve, arrived in St. Augustine with the biking equipment and are enjoying a brief vacation before the start of the bike trip. They will be joined by the rest (Dave, Steve, Steve's girlfriend Val, Dave's sister Amanda and her husband Ryan) on Sunday for the beach send-off from St. Augustine, FL.

Rumor has it that B4B has now recruited SPECIALIZED as a sponsor! Dave has just ordered a bike and is making preperations ie gathering gear, maps, and equipment for the trip.
Also we have a new bicyclist joining Dave, Nick George. Nick and Dave have been roommates for 6 months now. Nick is 23 years old. He received his bachelor's degree in plastic engineering from Penn State Erie, The Behrend College and is now pursuing his doctorate in plastics at UMass-Lowell with an ultimate career goal of research and development in medical plastic devices. He currently does medical device research and assists in teaching labs for the undergraduates.
